# What is the maximum password length allowed in okta?

i am observing incorrect behaviour when i put password too long and try to reset it

step 1 : change password fro xyz@1234 to Kharan@121ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

step 2: change password from  
Kharan@121ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss  
to  
Xyz@2345  
i am observing “Unexpected Error message”

@karthikmapalakaje Hi, Okta will not permit passwords longer than 72 characters.
