Since okta and auth0 have merged and okta dev edition has far less MAU than before, I would like to know if it is doable to stick with okta-auth-js switching from okta to auth0?

The Okta SDKs were only tested to work against Okta’s endpoints and Authorization Servers, so you may run into issues using them with Auth0 instead. You may want to look into migrating to use Auth0 libraries instead, as the Okta AuthJS library is not just an OpenID Connect library, but it is also designed to handle primary authentication into an Okta org.
