Locked out of my Okta Developer org – need MFA reset

Hi Okta team,

I am the administrator of a free Developer Edition org and I’m locked out of the admin console.

What happened:
I disabled my MFA authenticator and then logged out. Now, when I attempt to sign in, I cannot complete the login because it still prompts for the removed factor.

Recovery attempts:

  • Tried “Forgot Password” → still asks for the same factor
  • I have no other admin users on this org

Request:
Could someone from the Okta Developer Support team please help reset my MFA enrollment or restore Super Admin access?

Due to our internal policies, we are unable to assist with admin lock-outs for Developer/Integrator Free orgs.

Instead we recommend signing up for a new org and ensuring that you

  • do not disable your MFA (as 2fa is required for access to the admin console)
  • enable and enroll in additional factors (in case you lose access to one or the other)
  • add additional admins to your org (so they can assist if you get locked out)
  • configure an API Service app with permission to manage policies/users so you can fix any misconfigurations yourself.
