User Primary Email updates Username

When we use this API and send partial update for Primary Email (email) property it updates Username (login) too. Is there any way to update Primary Email without updating Username?

Can you check if your org has the flag SELF_SERVICE_REGISTRATION enabled? When that feature is enabled, we force Primary Email and Username to be the same.

We use preview account for testing. Looks like this feature is enabled there by default. I do not see any option to disable it in Okta Portal. We will double check out production account.
