Custom login widget not letting users activate after OIE upgrade

We have used the custom login widget with classic Okta without issue. It was built to allow our customers to be redirected to a web portal rather than the Okta dashboard. We changed to a custom domain some time ago, but without any widget issues. Since upgrading to OIE in our test environment the login widget seems to act oddly. The biggest showstopper is that when users try to activate a new account they are taken to the widget to login, rather than prompted to create a new password. Has anyone else encountered this issue? We have created a case, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this.
