Okta Integrator Free Plan Registration Failure

Hi, I tried to register for an Okta Integrator Free Plan account. It always fails with an error: “Something unexpected happened while processing your registration. Please try again.” I tried a few times, but no luck. Always the same failure. Since my company also uses the Okta service for our internal SSO, my email may be bound to Okta already. Any clue or suggestion for my issue?

Hi @dzhang,

Could you go through the options listed in this dev forum post answer about the same issue: Okta Integrator Free Plan signup - #5 by edunham ?

I’m currently able to reproduce the repeated “something unexpected” error by attempting to sign up using an email that’s already associated with an integrator account. To test whether this is your situation, please:

  • search your email, including spam, for a message with the title " Activate your Okta Integrator free plan"
  • Try sign-up using plus addressing – your.name@company.tld can usually receive mail addressed to your.name+anything@company.tld. These addresses are treated as different by the sign-up logic.

If no other solution works, try creating an email account not associated with your company which has a .com or .org name. Godaddy has a good deal - you can get a domain name, email and access Outlook over the web for $35 / year. This will completely separate your company name from any existing email.

Actually, you might want to try the + email solution first. I’m not clear exactly how it works. Apparently if your email is john.doe@example.com, try signing up with:

  • john.doe+okta1@example.com
  • john.doe+integration@example.com

It’s treated as a new user. Btw, “tld” stands for “top level domain”.
