This article seems to indicate that the ${oneTimePassword} variable is usable in the Registration - Activation email template. However, when I tried to use that variable, it does not render a value and simply remains ${oneTimePassword} in the email.

Is there a way to switch from magic links to e.g. a 6-digit OTP in the email? We are having issues with things like Microsoft Safe Links automatically accessing the magic link and inadvertently activating the user.

Could you please confirm if you are self-registering user in the Okta using the Sign-Up option and confirm the email template where you are trying to use ${oneTimePassword} variable?

Yes, this is self-registration and the email template is Registration - Activation
